on this day while taking our first motorcycle ( 85 700cc virago) ride of the season. we were tooling along north on riverside dr just above the zoo at 35mph. while going through a "s" turn I laid the bike down and Sonja and I "low sided" . that means we fell of the low side of the bike and let it go ahead of us. what you most commonly see at races because that is what happens when the back tire breaks traction with the pavement. Sonja went rolling off the road and I slid down it. we were both wearing protective gear . Sonja has some bad bruising on her left arm and leg. the don't bend very well right now but she is getting around the house pretty well. her armored jacket did it's job and took all the road rash on it's self. I on the other hand had my left shoe catch instead of slide and broke my lower leg at the fibula. I got to se my own sole ( of my shoe) as I slid down the road. I then crawled off to the side and asked for someone to call 911. after putting the bone back in the skin and some stainless steel screws ,a small rod of the same material , a handful of staples , a few stitches and 3 days in the hospital I got to come home. I get to stay off my leg for 7-9 more weeks then start rehab. joy!!! right now we are depending on friends to make sure we even have food. ( Sonja can not bend her leg far enough to drive)
