Question:Can I fit a 500cc Rotax engine in my Jawa350?

Answer: Don't bother unless you have a lot of money or you are a skilled engineer.

Here's why.

Below is a list of the alterations you will have to carry out.

The frame has been altered at the front and rear and an extra mounting point fitted underneath the engine.

The electics have to be altered because the engine has a seperate ignition

and charging circuits.

You will have to fit a voltage regulater/rectifier.

The exhaust is completely different to the 350 and would not fit at all.

You would probably have to make a throttle cable to fit which carbureter you

fit.A dellorto is the best but the Jawa 500R's were fitted with an Amal in

the UK.

There is no speedo drive on the engine so another drive will have to be used

on the front wheel.

There two types of front brakes fitted to the 500R.A drum brake with heavier

brake shoes and a hydralic disc.

The chain is bigger and the rear sprocket is unique to the Jawa 500R.It

looks the same as the standard 350 rear sprocket but they are different

sizes and cannot be interchanged.

You will also have to remove the enclosed chain and fit a chain guard to the

rear swinging forks.

The foot peg on the left side of the bike is also mounted differently and is

shorter. This is for the kick start and the gear lever.

You will also have to convert the left side panel/oil tank for the oil pipes

to and from the engine and a breather hose.

The air filter will not fit and you will have to remove the air box and fit

a K&N or something like it.

You will also have to fit a valve lifter to start the engine.

If I haven't put you off the idea then good luck with the work.

Ecuatia data mai sus are vreo rezolvare ??
