Liberty Media wants to bring the MotoGP World Championship to the US market, and this event is the first step. Manufacturers and teams will have to dig deep into their pockets

 

MotoGP will make a stop in Miami in 2027, but—at least for now—it won’t be for a Grand Prix. According to what GPOne has heard, the Florida city will host the presentation of the 2027 MotoGP season. This event was launched two years ago, with Bangkok serving as its inaugural host. In 2026, however, Kuala Lumpur was chosen, featuring a new street exhibition race through the city’s streets.

For the future, the decision was made to leave Asia and head to the USA, an important market where MotoGP has never quite managed to gain a foothold. Laguna Seca had decent attendance, but not on par with the top European events. Indianapolis (where races were held from 2008 to 2015) is remembered for being desolately empty. Austin, the current GP venue, is a top-tier facility close to the city, and the track is beautiful, but the grandstands have never been full.

Clearly, Liberty Media, the new owner of MotoGP, wants to make the championship popular in the United States as well, just as it has done with F1. CEO Derek Chang made this clear in recent weeks, not ruling out the possibility that Miami could also host a motorcycle Grand Prix in the future.

Aprilia's wait for a title sponsor is over

 

Monster Energy is set to become Aprilia's title sponsor in MotoGP from next week's Italian Grand Prix, Motorsport.com can confirm.

The Noale factory has dominated the start of the 2026 season, winning four out of the six grands prix so far, with Marco Bezzecchi prevailing in the opening three races and Jorge Martin triumphing at Le Mans.

 

However, Aprilia remains one of the few teams on the grid without a title sponsor – something that will change with immediate effect as Monster strikes an agreement with the squad.

For the moment, the contract will run until the end of the season, but with a commitment to extend the agreement beyond 2026.

For Aprilia, the move is an important cash injection, but above all a guarantee of stability in the short and medium term. In addition, it so happens that championship leader Bezzecchi has a personal contract with Monster, which will undoubtedly create many opportunities for activations between the brand, the rider and the team.

Also, as is known, Francesco Bagnaia will join Aprilia in 2027 as Bezzecchi’s team-mate. The current Ducati rider also has a personal contract with Monster, hence the agreement between the drinks company and Aprilia having scope beyond 2026.

Upsss.. JM devine incompatibil cu Aprilia si din punctul de vedere al sponsorilor.... MM, a fost in aceeasi situatie, dar nu a avut mari probleme de constiinta, in a rezilia contractul cu sponsorul personal. Vedem cum va reactiona JM, daca va dori sa ramana la Aprilia. asta daca nu a semnat deja cu Yamaha. 

 

Chestia asta cu one bike, pentru MotoGP nu va face bine nici competitiei, in sine, nici spectacolului. Se vede ca Liberty nu prea intelege cum sta treaba cu disciplina asta. Moto GP nu este F1.

Should the proposal become a reality, it might be feasible to adopt a solution similar to that used in production-based classes, where each team, for each rider, brings a second bike “hidden” in the trucks or in the pit garage to be used in the event that a crash or a mechanical failure compromises structural elements of the machine, such as the frame. In that case, the team would request the expertise of Championship technicians to homologate the reserve unit.

Given the dynamic nature and frequency of crashes, as well as the pile-up impacts that two-wheeled vehicles are often subjected to, it would be more difficult to replicate the ban on “spare bikes” imposed in F1 since the 2008 season.

Daca propunerea de reducere a numarului de motociclete vine din partea producatorilor, atunci lucrurile sunt clare. Daca insa producatorii au cerut reducerea costurilor, iar Liberty a gasit ca metoda asta... sustin ca nu este tocmai cea mai inspirata, pentru binele competitiei.
